SUBMISSIONS
The International Journal of Linguistics, Literature, and Culture is a peer-reviewed journal and all the papers submitted undergo a double-blind peer-review process. The latter means that the identity of the authors and of the reviewers are reciprocally unknown. In order to enhance transparency of the process, the journal also supports open reviewing and gives authors and reviewers the option to make their names and reports publicly available alongside the published paper. As of September 2019, review history is available for every published paper. It includes the contact information of the corresponding author, date of publication, the number of review reports received, and the names of the reviewers. The latter only if they decide to reveal their names. Furthermore, LLC hereby encourages all reviewers to reveal their names on the LLC evaluation form, and approve that their names be available on the LLC`s website.
LLC strives to reduce the time frame for the selection of the reviewers and the initial screening of the submissions. LLC encourages authors to follow the author’s guidelines and the LLC template. Proper submission facilitates the entire process.
LLC accepts research articles, review articles, critical essays, and case studies in the area of linguistics, literature, and lulture sciences.
All articles must be in English language.
Recommended article length is 7-20 pages.
Authors are required to submit their manuscripts and the submission form via email to [email protected] or [email protected].
The corresponding author receives a confirmation for the submission within 12 hours.
LLC Peer Review Process
LLC promotes a rigorous peer review procedure on the basis of scientific validity and technical quality of the paper. Every single paper submitted to the LLC undergoes a rigorous peer review procedure by at least two LLC reviewers. Author-suggested reviewers are also acceptable but only as additional review reports.
Review Procedure
- After submission, corresponding authors are asked to clarify that the paper is not being submitted and that it has not been published elsewhere; to contact the editorial office using institutional email addresses; to confirm that they have thoroughly revised and agreed with the LLC publication policies. They are also asked to respond to the conflicts of interests statement, funding statement, data availability statement, and human/animal participation statement.
- The manuscript is screened for basic technical requirements.
- Corresponding authors receive a confirmation email, informing them whether or not the manuscript has been properly structured.
- Even though the authors are responsible for potential plagiarized content, the editorial office reserves the right to scan the content of the paper for plagiarism.
- The editorial office reserves the right to return to authors, without peer review, improperly formatted manuscripts or non-authorized submissions.
- The manuscript undergoes initial screening by the associate editor, including comments on its structure and the language aspect, and the managing editor identifies potential reviewers. If necessary, proofreading of the content may be requested to the authors. LLC offers professional proofreading services, which are not mandatory for authors. However, authors have to provide a final version of the paper that is free of grammar or punctuation errors.
- Reviewers for the manuscript are assigned.
- The identity of the reviewers is anonymous, except for those who are willing to disclose their it under the “open review” process.
- The editorial office decides whether review reports from additional experts are needed or the review reports are sufficient for a final decision.
- All of the reviewers are familiar with the LLC peer review policy. Their awareness of the necessity of a prompt response on whether or not they are able to conduct a review in a given moment is noted in the invitation.
- Every single paper submitted to the LLC undergoes a rigorous peer review procedure by at least two LLC reviewers.
- When a sufficient number of review reports are received, the managing editor and editor-in-chief make the final decision. The time of the peer-review completion depends on many circumstances. Even though we strive to provide peer review in a decent timeframe, fast publication cannot be guaranteed.
The following decisions are possible:
– Accept the manuscript as submitted;
– Accept it with minor revision;
– Accept it with major revision; and
– Reject the manuscript because it does not meet the journal criteria.
After the peer review process, the decision is made in accordance with the recommendations in the review reports. In case of opposite recommendations from the reviewers, a new reviewer is assigned. The Editor-in-Chief supervises the whole process of each manuscript and makes the final decision.
Plagiarism
Plagiarism is not acceptable in LLC submissions and publications. After submission, authors are requested to declare the originality of their work by properly citing, re-using, or copying previous publications. If plagiarism is detected during the peer review process, the manuscript is rejected. If plagiarism is detected after publication, the publisher has the right to issue an erratum/corrigendum or retract of the paper. The editorial office makes use of plagiarism checker software (AntiPlagiarism.NET) to confirm the originality of submitted papers.
Conflicts of Interests
When authors submit a manuscript to LLC, they are responsible for disclosing all relations and activities that might bias or be seen to bias their work. Examples of potential conflicts of interests include, but are not limited to, financial interests (such as membership, employment, consultancies, stocks/shares ownership, honoraria, grants or other funding, paid expert testimonies, and patent-licensing arrangements) and non-financial interests (such as personal or professional relationships, affiliations, personal beliefs). Authors, reviewers, and editors must follow the ICMJE standards.
Article Processing Charges
LLC is a self-sustained journal, since to date, the publisher has not received grants or funding for publication activities. The low article processing charges (APC) serve only for covering publication costs, support operating costs, review management, website maintenance, and archiving. Accepted papers attract an Article Processing Charge of 97 Euros (or USD equivalent). Electronic copies can be downloaded without charge. Printed copies are available at 20 Euros (26 USD) per copy.
Proofreading
The Article Processing Charge does not include professional editing or proofreading, which is available at additional cost. Where necessary, language proofreading of the content may be requested by the authors or by the reviewers. Thus, the editorial office may recommend its own proofreading services, to which authors are not required to comply. In any case, authors are required to provide a final version of the paper without grammar or punctuation errors.
Permanency of Content
As of December 2017, all articles published receive a DOI and are permanently published.
Content Preservation
As of May 2018, LLC uses Portico as archiving solution. Portico is among the largest community-supported digital archives in the world. Working with libraries and publishers, they preserve e-journals, e-books, and other electronic scholarly content to ensure researchers and students have access to them in the future. In order to contribute to environment protection, LLC has decided to end printing of the journal. However, under specific request, printed versions are available at 20 Euros (26 USD) per copy.
